Mr. Gilbert Nyamweya is a Senior Consulting Partner with SLS Group. He possesses Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws Degrees both from the University of Nairobi. In addition to being an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, he is both a certified Public Secretary (CPS) and a certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPK). He is also an arbitrator and a mediator with membership at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK & Kenya Chapter). He is a patent agent enrolled as such with the Kenya Industrial property Institute. He holds a Certificate in Management of Meetings and Minute Writing from the Institute of Corporate Governance and a Certificate in Negotiation, Drafting and Management of Contracts (including major construction projects) from the International Law Institute (ILI), Uganda, Kampala.

He has ten years of experience in legal practice. He carries a wealth of experience acquired over the years while serving in the law firms of Njoroge Regeru & Company Advocates, Mboya & Wangong’u Advocates and Sichangi & Company Advocates. He has also garnered a corpus of public sector experience having variously served at the Constitution of Kenya Review commission and National AIDS Control Council. His experience is predominantly legislative drafting and public policy development; legal education training; transactional, commercial and corporate law; corporate reorganization and restructuring; corporate debt restructuring; intellectual property; public-private partnership law; project finance law; infrastructure and construction law; civil aviation and aircraft law; telecommunications law; trusteeship law; macro law (law and development); procurement law; tax law; HIV and AIDS law; environmental law; natural resources and energy law; international trade law; regional and economic integration law; foreign investments law; civil and commercial litigation; constitutional and public law litigation; property and land dispute resolution and litigation; adjudication; mediation; commercial arbitration; constitutional law; public and administrative law; and law science and technology. He has over the years participated in major capital and legal restructuring of corporations and rendered major legal opinions.

Legal scholarship:
He has written and published scholarly works in various law journals, bulletins and reviews. His scholarly interests are in conflict of laws, regional integration of East Africa, international trade and investment, environmental law, intellectual property, constitutional and public law and good governance. He is a contributor to the University of Nairobi Law Journal.
